What's in our bamboo
What we test for, and what came back
Who checks
An independent institute tests the finished fabric, and every thread and label on it, against 1,000+ substances known to harm human health. Nothing is taken on the mill's word, including ours.
OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, product class II: the tier for textiles worn against skin. Certified by TESTEX Zurich, valid to 31 January 2027. Certificate number on request.
Catalogue: OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Testing Methods, Edition 01.2025, all 31 numbered sections.
A certificate confirms each group met its limit. It does not publish a per-substance reading, so no row claims a number it does not have. One group can cover many substances. SGS separately tested our fabric for heavy metals, formaldehyde, azo dyes and pH. All passed.
What Q-max measures
How fast heat leaves your skin and moves into the fabric the moment the two meet.
Higher means heat drains faster, so it feels cooler on contact. It is the measurement behind the phrase "cool to the touch".
Why this fabric does it
Nothing is added. The cool comes from how the fabric is built, and none of it washes out.
How other fabrics measure
Published figures from peer-reviewed research, with the method each used. Read the note below first: these are not a like-for-like comparison.
Our result: SGS-CSTC report SL52615313484901TX, 3 June 2026. Average 0.389 W/cm² across five readings (0.382 to 0.397), face side, 20°C and 65% relative humidity, 20°C temperature difference. Results refer only to the sample tested.
Comparison figures: peer-reviewed measurements on KES-F7 Thermo Labo apparatus. Sources: doi 10.2115/fiberst.2020-0001, 10.5850/jksct.2013.37.5.715, 10.3390/ma17071650, 10.5805/sfti.2014.16.2.326.
Why these are not directly comparable. The published figures were measured at a 10°C temperature difference and ours at 20°C. Q-max rises with that difference, so the gap shown above is wider than a like-for-like test would give. They also come from different labs on different apparatus, and the published samples are knitted and plain woven fabrics rather than sateen bedding. Every result refers only to the sample tested.
Why this one gets its own tab
One of the groups on the first tab, pulled out because it is the one people ask about by name.
Used to stop fabric creasing, it irritates skin, eyes and airways and causes the chemical smell some new bedding has. Traces can carry through the supply chain, so we test.
Source: SGS-CSTC report GZHL260502431801SD, 15 June 2026. Wash cycle 30°C gentle, low tumble. A second SGS report on a different colourway returned not detected before washing.
Limit: OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 Annex 4, product class II, 75 mg/kg.
Why we don't call it a closed loop
That third by-product is the reason. The process isn't 100% closed, and our producer says so too. So we tell you what is reused and what isn't, rather than borrow a label that doesn't fit.

How bamboo keeps you cool
It pulls heat away on contact
Our sateen weave runs long, flat threads across the surface, so more of the cool fabric touches your skin.
SGS measured it: Q-max 0.389It absorbs sweat into the fibre
Bamboo viscose soaks moisture into the fibre itself, instead of leaving it on your skin.
Holds about 11% of its weight in moistureIt stays smooth and light
400 thread count, tightly woven and silky, so it lies smooth against you without feeling heavy.

*Standard moisture regain of the fibre (ASTM D1909). Ecoy's Q-max was tested by SGS (report SL52615313484901TX). Other fabrics show typical values and were not tested by Ecoy. Fabric images are illustrative, except Ecoy's.
Independently tested. Here are the numbers.
Q-max measures how fast a fabric pulls heat from your skin the moment you touch it. The higher, the cooler it feels. SGS tested our bamboo sateen five times: 0.397, 0.388, 0.382, 0.389, 0.390.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will they actually feel cooler?
They're lab-tested cool to the touch (Q-max 0.389, SGS) and bamboo absorbs moisture into the fibre. 91% of customers say their sleep quality improved after switching. If they don't work for you, the 90-night trial covers it.
Will dark colours stain?
Darker colours can show body oil and some skincare products over time, like most dark bedding. An enzyme stain remover from the supermarket usually lifts it, and washing regularly on a gentle cycle helps.
Do they shrink?
They're pre-washed, but expect about 5% shrinkage in the first wash. Fitted sheet walls are 45cm deep (40cm for King Single), so there's room to spare.
How do I care for them?
Cold or warm machine wash on a gentle cycle and line dry in the shade. Please don't tumble dry. High heat shortens the life of bamboo.
Are they OK for sensitive skin?
The fabric is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified (class II, for fabric worn against skin). SGS found no formaldehyde after one wash, no restricted azo dyes, and heavy metals within limits.
How does the trial work?
The 90-night trial is for your first Ecoy order. Sleep on them for up to 90 nights from delivery. If they're not for you, email support@ecoy.com.au and we'll refund you in full and cover return postage. Used bedding is fine. Returned bedding is donated to not-for-profit organisations.
