#ENDPLASTIC

Australian's throw away 30 million plastic toothbrushes every year that end up in landfill or worse, polluting our oceans and waterways. Globally, the number of toothbrushes disposed per annum increases to 23 billion. If we are to make a difference, it's down to millions of people collectively changing to more sustainable habits.

How to look after your bamboo toothbrush in Australia

Store your brush in a dry area

Store your bamboo toothbrush in an open air location with plenty of light and dry conditions. If your bathroom is too humid, you may need to pat your brush down with a towel. We recommend using an Ecoy bamboo toothbrush holder as these awesome little dudes help create the perfect bathroom setting to store your bamboo toothbrush.

Replace toothbrush every 3 months

According to the Australian Dental Association (ADA) you should replace your toothbrush every 3 months. For those using plastic brushes, this leads to needless waste. For bamboo toothbrush users, just more plant food for your garden! Though make sure you remove the nylon bristles before composting the bamboo toothbrush handle.

Before first use

Just as you would for a new pair of underwear, we highly recommend washing your bamboo toothbrush thoroughly before using it for the first time. This will remove any manufacturing residue and guarantee a clean product which is a big tick for oral hygiene.

End of life

Our bamboo toothbrushes are compostable but only after removing the nylon bristles. Grab your nearest set of pliers and pull off the bristles before taking them to your local government for recycling. The remaining toothbrush handle can be composted and start feeding your green plant friends.
