Looking after your bamboo straws

Before first use

Our reusable bamboo straws are washed and dried before they are packed though sometimes manufacturing residue can linger. It's a good rule of thumb to boil the straws in water and vinegar before first use to avoid any "woody" aromas. The straws should be tasteless when used with your drinks.

Wash drinking straws with cleaning brush

Make sure you hand wash bamboo straws in warm soapy water after each use, thoroughly scrubbing using the provided cleaning brush. They are dishwasher safe if needed but this is more of a fallback position.

Replace straws every 12 months

Because these little guys are made of an organic compound, bamboo, it is recommended to replace each bamboo straw every 12 months. This is because they're essentially a natural material so won't last as long as something like stainless steel straws.

End of life

Here come's the beautiful part. When a bamboo straw reaches end of life, simply compost it! It'll take about a year to biodegrade with the right moisture and temperature. This is one of the strongest eco-friendly factors when it comes to using products made of bamboo.
